Necropolis: Town of the dead, North Ossetia, somewhere in caucasus mountains. A great plague wandered across area of current Ossetia in 16-18th century AD. Clans built houses for sick family members and kept them away there, while providing with food. People died there in slow, alone agony. Once they died, the made place for others. the “houses for dying” are filled with bones.

"I read once that the ancient Egyptians had fifty words for sand and the Eskimos had a hundred words for snow. I wish I had a thousand words for love, but all that comes to mind is the way you move against me while you sleep and there are no words for that."  - Brian Andreas  (via ladydiaphena)

"The saddest word in English: Stay."  - 6-Word Story #49 (via writingsforwinter)

WOWSIGH

"You tried to change didn’t you?
closed your mouth more
tried to be softer
prettier
less volatile, less awake
but even when sleeping you could feel
him travelling away from you in his dreams
so what did you want to do, love
split his head open?
you can’t make homes out of human beings
someone should have already told you that
and if he wants to leave
then let him leave
you are terrifying
and strange and beautiful
something not everyone knows how to love."  - “For Women Who Are Difficult to Love,” Warsan Shire  (via rushmores)

fromwhichyouraccentcomes:

If the sun were to explode,
you wouldn’t even know about it
for eight minutes

And nothing in the world
gives me a heavier heart
than knowing I wouldn’t be able to reach you
before the world went dark.

another reminder.

sinandserotonin:

the world is heavy
but your bones
(just a cubic inch)
can hold 19,000 lbs

ounce for ounce
they are stronger than steel

atom for atom
you are more precious than diamond

and stars have died
so that you may live

you need to remember these things
when you say that you are weak
and worthless

"I wonder if you know yet that you’ll leave me. That you
are a child playing with matches and I have a paper body.
You will meet a girl with a softer voice and stronger arms and she
will not have violent secrets or an affection for red wine or eyes
that never stay dry. You will fall into her bed and I’ll go back
to spending Friday nights with boys who never learn my last name.

I have chased off every fool who has tried to sleep beside me
You think it’s romantic to fuck the girl who writes poems about you.
You think I’ll understand your sadness because I live inside my own.
But I will show up at your door at 2 am, wild-eyed and sleepless.
and try and find some semblance of peace in your breastbone
and you will not let me in. You will tell me to go home."  - (via neopiacentral)
